Menopause Is No Joking Matter: An Open Letter to Men

Woman writing a letter to man about menopause

Hey there, gents!

Let’s have a little chat about something that might seem like a mystery wrapped in an enigma: menopause. Now, before you roll your eyes or crack a joke, let’s get real for a second. Menopause is no laughing matter, and trust me, your wife isn’t finding it funny either. You both can't be in denial at the same time. Trust me! It sneaks up on you.

The Changes You’re Seeing (And She’s Feeling) When It Comes to Menopause

First off, if you’ve noticed some changes in your better half that have you scratching your head, you’re not alone. Menopause brings along a slew of symptoms that can make even the calmest among us feel like we’re riding an emotional rollercoaster. Here’s a quick surface snapshot:

  1. Hot Flashes: One minute she’s fine, the next she’s fanning herself like she’s sitting on the surface of the sun.

  2. Mood Swings: Her emotions might be all over the place. One moment she’s laughing, the next she’s tearing up over a cat video.

  3. Sleep Problems: She’s tossing and turning at night, which means you might be too.

  4. Weight Gain: Metabolism slows down, and those extra pounds seem to stick around more than she’d like.

  5. Memory Issues: Forgetfulness can be frustrating for both of you.

  6. Decreased Libido: Things in the bedroom might not be as steamy as they used to be.

What She Needs During Menopause

Understanding what she’s going through is half the battle. Here’s what she needs during this time:

  • Patience is Key: She’s dealing with a lot, physically and emotionally. Be patient and understanding.

  • Communicate Openly: Talk about what she’s experiencing and how you can support her.

  • Be Supportive: Whether it’s offering a cold glass of water during a hot flash, turning on three more fans, or just listening when she needs to vent, every little bit helps.

How to Help

Here are some practical ways you can be her rock during this time:

  • Listen Without Judgement: Sometimes she just needs to vent. Listen without trying to fix everything.

  • Avoid Hormone Jokes: Seriously, steer clear of any jokes about her hormones. It’s not funny to her and will likely backfire. And it she makes a joke about menopause, watch for a clear signal it's okay to laugh.

  • Help With Sleep: Create a cool, calm sleeping environment. Say yes to investing in some new bedding that helps regulate temperature.

  • Encourage Healthy Habits: Join her in eating healthy and staying active. It’s good for both of you.

  • Support Holistic Solutions: Supplements that support the intricate harmony between her metabolic hormones, stress hormones, and sex hormones will help boost her mood, ease the stress, and support the changes her body is going through. The right combination will boost serotonin and dopamine production for an even greater mood lift. It can also help her achieve weight loss goals while reducing bloating and inflammation.

  • Show Affection: A little extra love and affection go a long way. Hold her hand, give her a hug, and remind her that you’re in this together and she's as beautiful as ever.

Remember, Menopause is a Journey with it's Own Time Table

Menopause might feel like an uphill climb, but remember, you’re climbing it together. By understanding what she’s going through and offering your unwavering support, you’re helping her find that balance and joy once more. And who knows? You might just come out of this stronger as a couple. (Or at least still talking to each other. That was a joke. You can laugh.)

With warm regards,

and wishing you both all the best.

xoxo
